Paines Ford & Pōhara · Golden Bay

Help rebolt Golden Bay's climbs.

Many routes at Paines Ford and Pōhara were bolted in the 1990s and early 2000s, and their bolts and anchors are wearing out. Golden Bay Climbers, a small group of local volunteers, is replacing them. Your donation pays for the hardware.

The project

400+ routes

Paines Ford and Pōhara have over 400 routes between them, and many still need new bolts and anchors.

Salt air

Pōhara sits right beside the sea, so corrosion is a particular problem there.

Volunteer labour

All the labour is voluntary. Donations pay for bolts, anchors, threaded rod and glue.

Troy Stevenson did much of this work for years before Golden Bay Climbers took it on.
